30in. nitro reproved barrels, ribs gold-inlaid '1' and '2' and engraved 'WILLIAM EVANS (FROM PURDEY'S) 63, PALL MALL. ST. JAMES'S. LONDON.', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, treble-grip actions with removable striker discs, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, bold engraving of scrolling acanthus, floral and foliate motifs on a matt background, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 15 5/8in. figured stocks (replacement) including 1 5/8in. wooden extensions, weight 6lb. 11oz., in a brass-cornered oak and leather case

Provenance: We are kindly informed by the makers that this pair of shotguns were ordered January 1909 and were subsequently re-sold to Major Edmond Pery-Knox-Gore.

Edmond Myles Pery-Knox-Gore was born July 1904 to Edmond Arthur Pery-Knox-Gore and Amy Sandys-Lumsdaine. He was schooled at Eton before joining the Grenadier Guards where he attained the rank of Major.
