A RARE .36 PERCUSSION SIX-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL 'SQUARE-BACK TRIGGER-GUARD' 1851 NAVY, serial no. 2368,
produced in the first year of production, 1851, with 7 1/2in. octagonal, sighted barrel, the top-flat signed 'ADDRESS SAML COLT. NEW YORK CITY' plain cylinder etched with naval engagement scene, left hand side of frame stamped 'COLTS PATENT', silver-plated brass trigger-guard and grip straps, smooth walnut grip, no provision for shoulder-stock (some plating and small areas of original finish remaining, majority patinated and stained with some minor pitting)
Provenance: Square-back trigger-guards on 1851 Navy models only occur up to serial no. 4200.
