converted from flintlock circa 1835, with shortened 22 3/4in. round barrel, serially numbered at the breech together with the numbers '263' and '107', border-lined 'banana' lock with traces of a 'GR' cypher overstamped with a small 'CA' monogram, serial number and 'TOWER' to the tail, hinged 'cap-lock' safety forwards of the nipple, military-style walnut full-stock (cracked and repaired behind lock) with brass furniture, woodwork also serial numbered behind serpentine side-plate and modified iron ramrod (iron surfaces darkly stained)
