A PAIR OF 18-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-SHOT TRAVELLING PISTOLS,
circa 1800, with twist-steel 4 3/4in. octagonal barrels, the top-flat signed 'LONDON', slightly curved, bevel-edged locks with stepped tails engraved with sunbursts and signed 'JACKSON', semi-waterproof pans, roller frizzen-springs and sliding safetys behind the hammers (one hammer repaired, top jaws and screws replaced, one safety missing thumb-piece), walnut full-stocks with bag-shaped chequered butts, silver rectangular escutcheons to the wrists, engraved iron trigger-guards (pitted), silver take-down wedge escutcheons and wooden brass tipped rammers (one replaced), exposed iron surfaces stained with some mild pitting on both pistols
