circa 1800, with heavy sighted octagonal 31in. barrel, the top-flat inlaid in gold 'JOVER & SON, LONDON', double gold lines at breech, the top-tang engraved with martial trophys and a lion's mask, gold-lined touch-hole, slightly curved bevel-edged step tailed lock plate engraved with flowers and shields and signed 'JOVER & SON', roller-bearing to the frizzen spring, re-stocked in walnut in the continental half-stock style with raised cheek-piece to the left hand side, reinforcing bolt to left hand side of action, spurred iron heel-plate, scrolled pistol-grip trigger-guard, the bow border and trophy engraved, set trigger, two take-down wedges, iron forend cap and horn-tipped rammer (exposed iron surfaces lightly stained and worn, split to wood forwards of side-nail)
