for 1877, 26in. black powder reproved barrel (smoothbored to .410 from likely .360 rook), turned from octagonal to round, with file cut to the top octagonal flats and dovetail blank insert from removed open sights, the breech end with banner signed 'THOMAS HORSLEY & SON MAKERS YORK PATENT 2410', 2 1/2in. chamber, bored approx. true cyl., Horsley patent action incorporating barrel bolting patent No. 2410 of 1st October 1863, scrolled engraved standing breech, the pull back toplever with 'PATENT 2410', non-rebounding back-action lock, dolphin hammer with oblique striking face, triggerguard with integral skeletal pistolgrip, bold acanthus scroll engraved detailing, 13 5/8in. highly-figured stock including buttplate, fore-end with grip-catch release lever and sculpted finial, weight 5lb. 8oz
