for 1905, 29in. nitro barrels, No.1 steel replacements, No.2 of fine damascus (slightly loose on action), the ribs engraved 'CHARLES HELLIS & SONS LTD. 119. EDGEWARE ROAD. HYDE PARK. LONDON. W.', and gold-inlaid '1' and 2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and full choke (No.1) and 1/4 and 1/2 choke (No.2), treble-grip actions with carved stylised leaf fences, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, intercepting sears, decorative recessed sideplates, fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, retaining very slight traces of original colour-hardening, 15 1/4in. figured stocks, No.2 including 1 1/4in. wooden extension and with minor splits at hand, weight 6lb. 11oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 8oz. (No.2), in their brass-cornered oak-lined leather case

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed in September 1905 and sold to 'Mellersh. R.H.' for £80
