A BRASS-CORNERED OAK AND LEATHER SINGLE GUNCASE,
fitted for 30in. barrels, the interior lined with red baize, a James Purdey & Sons trade label and "CHARGES FOR GUN" label for serial no. 18983, central brass push-button lock (key missing), together with an oil bottle, striker disc remover tool and two snap-caps, the lid exterior with a central brass escutcheon engraved 'W. WELLS RIDLEY'

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed Purdey serial no. 18983 was completed in July 1907 for N. Wells Ridley with 30in. barrels, which were then shortened to 29in. in August 1917.
