type II (or model 3) variations for between 1888-1911, with 3in. barrels, raised ribs with integral fore-sights, the ribs signed 'REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION N.Y., plain receivers with swivelling barrel locks and spur triggers, central hammers and chequered hard-rubber semi birdshead grips, both pistols bearing a fair amount of an older blued refinish, each 5 1/4in. overall, complete with a later walnut case compartmented in the continental style for these pistols and with provision for storing twelve rounds of ammunition, complete with a pewter oil-bottle
