AN UNUSUAL CASED PAIRING OF .41 (RIMFIRE) PISTOLS, MODELS 'CLOVERLEAF HOUSE & No.3 THUER', serial no's 3794 & 1200,
the first for 1871, with reblued 3in. barrel signed 'COLT'S HOUSE PISTOL, HARTFORD CT. USA', London proofs, reblued fully fluted cylinder, brass frame (traces of silver plating), exposed hammer, spur-trigger, smooth rosewood birdshead grips and an under-barrel ejector rod, the second circa 1880, with reblued 2in. barrel signed on the top 'COLT' and marked with additional South African registration number 'T9346' to underside, nickel-plated open frame marked with the calibre above the trigger on the left, blued hammer and trigger, birdshead grip fitted with smooth walnut grip-panels and stamped with a retailer applied serial number to heel, London proofs, the pair housed in a period English market walnut case with ten-screw lid and central brass circular escutcheon, the interior recompartmented and relined in red baize and containing a cleaning rod, oil-bottle and tray for ten rounds of ammunition
