circa 1865-73, with octagonal 4 1/2in. barrel, the top flat signed 'PATENTED SEPT 14 1858, MARCH 17 1863' and 'REMINGTON & SONS, ILION, NEWYORK U.S.A.' over 'NEW MODEL', crescent fore-sight, sighting groove to the top-strap, under-barrel loading lever, plain cylinder with separate end-plate, solid frame with blued trigger and hammer, smooth walnut grips and plated brass trigger-guard bow, the whole retaining a strong amount of original nickel-plated finish
