dated for 1870, with 19 1/4in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight retaining original leather protector, flip-open breech with spring retaining catch (missing firing pin), plain lock signed and dated forwards of the hammer and marked with a 'V.R.' crown device on tail, walnut half-stock with brass furniture, the heel-plate with central trapdoor, single iron barrel-band and no provision for clearing rod
