A 16-BORE FLINTLOCK BRASS-BARRELLED COACHING BLUNDERBUSS WITH INSCRIBED MUZZLE, no visible serial number,
circa 1790, with plain round heavy-guage 15 1/4in. barrel flaring at the muzzle, moulded band at breech with an engraved flourish (rubbed), the flat of the muzzle inscribed 'HAPPY IS HE WHO ESCAPETH ME' together with a rose garland, London proofs and Thomas Ketland maker's mark at breech, borderline engraved lock of radiused military style signed 'T. KETLAND' below the pan (frizzen and spring replaced), walnut full-stock skip-chequered at the wrist, brass furniture including escutcheoned side-nails and provision for under-barrel ramrod (missing)
