early 19th century, with 14in. three-stage barrel with banded cannon muzzle and marked with Tower proofs on the octagonal breech section, spring bayonet fitted beneath, borderline engraved iron tang, flat bevelled bolted lock signed 'THOMAS' in script and with pointed stepped tail, semi rainproof pan, walnut shotgun half-stock chequered at the wrist, brass mounts including trigger-guard, iron trigger-shaped bayonet release catch behind the finial and possible replacement iron-tipped side-mounted ramrod
