circa 1855, with blued 39in. dummy barrel fitted with a domed brass nose-cap, the last 18in. of the barrel slotted to receive a blunt edged 'socket' bayonet with padded soft ball-tip running in the groove (possibly originally spring loaded), dummy side-hammer, walnut full-stock, brass furniture to pattern, two brass barrel-bands and three iron reinforcing plates fitted flush in the fore-end
