WEIHRAUCH, GERMANY
THE FIRST .22 UNDER-LEVER MODEL 'HW77' AIR-RIFLE IMPORTED TO THE UK, serial no. 1000003,
previously the property of the air-gun writer Geoff Boxall, circa 1983, with 18in. blued barrel marked on the right hand side 'MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY', the breech 'WEIHRAUCH MELLRICHSTADT-BAY', the reverse with the calibre and 'HULL CARTRIDGE' and the top 'HW77', solid alloy nose-cap with integral ramp and blade fore-sight, under-lever retained via a ball-bearing catch, polished sliding breech, blued air-chamber grooved for a telescopic sight and with two arrestor-block holes (missing original rearsight), push through safe to rear, adjustable 'Rekord' trigger unit, beech half-stock with chequered grip, rubber recoil pad and full length under-lever, the whole appearing very little used and fitted with a Bushnell 3-9x40 telescopic sight

Provenance: Geoff Boxall was well known to many as a regular contributor to Airgunner magazine throughout the 1980's and 90's and who sadly passed away early last year. This is the HW77 that was sent to him for test by the official importers Hull Cartridge Company, and believed the first received by them after its launch in 1983. The HW77 was a milestone air-rifle, re-writing the book on under-levers and spawning many imitators such as the Webley Eclipse and the BSA Superstar. Serial numbers are believed to have commenced with no. 1000000
