for 1879, with nickel-plated tapering round 2 1/4in. barrel signed 'COLT'S PT. FA. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. USA' on the top, the left side etched 'COLT NEW 32' and the underside stamped with the serial number and 'PAT SEPT 15 1874', plated cylinder with long flutes, plated solid frame with moulded circular sideplate, single action mechanism with exposed hammer and spur trigger and birdshead shaped butt fitted with smooth factory mother-of-pearl grips, small losses to plating
