A .25 RIMFIRE SINGLE-SHOT SPORTING-RIFLE, MODEL 'TIP-UP', serial no. 30179,
circa 1887, with heavy re-blued octagonal 24in. barrel, the left top-flat signed 'J. STEVENS A & T CO' above patent dates possibly to 1884 (obscured), calibre designation on the right hand top-flat, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, nickel-plated break-open frame with central exposed hammer, locking button to left hand side, walnut straight hand butt-stock (cracked through and repaired in antiquity), nickel-plated furniture including crescent heel-plate and raised lower tang, possibly originally equipped with a fore-end now absent, much plated finish remaining
