A POSSIBLY UNIQUE .577-450 RIFLE-CARBINE, MODEL 'BRAENDLIN ARMOURY DISMOUNTABLE MARTINI-HENRY', serial no. 10172,
circa 1886, with blued 33in. barrel, the last 12 1/2in. detaching via a catch on the underside and an interrupted thread mount, both pieces with block and blade fore-sights, standard elevating ladder rear-sight, the top of barrel at breech and nocksform stamped 'CHAS. INGRAM GLASGOW', the left side of barrel also stamped 'HENRY'S PATENT A & T 3733'', plain blued slab-sided action marked 'MARTINI'S PATENT' over below crossed flags over a letter 'B', tear-drop cocking indicator and chequered thumb-rest depression, walnut butt-stock, iron furniture including heel-plate and short underlever, full-length fore-end in two pieces, the forward section staying attached to the muzzle when detached, iron face-plates and locking catch, the clearing rod channel filled in for the front section only, strong traces of finish with some speckled corrosion
