A .297-230 SINGLE-SHOT CADET-RIFLE, MODEL 'MARTINI ACTION TRAINER', serial no. 4221,
circa 1885, with blued 27 1/2in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, plain blued slab-sided receiver stamped with 'FRANCOTTE'S PATENT' in a roundel on the left hand face, polished feed-ramp, walnut butt-stock further stamped with the number '11816' to the underside of wrist, blued iron furniture, full length walnut fore-end with two iron barrel-bands and nose-cap, provision for clearing rod (missing) and retaining much apparently original finish
