for 1857, with octagonal 7 1/2in. barrel signed on the top-flat 'ADDRESS SAML. COLT NEW YORK CITY', plain six-shot cylinder with traces of roll engraved scene, open iron frame marked 'COLTS PATENT U.S.', brass grip-straps, the backstrap a working replacement number '145929', wedge re-numbered and smooth walnut grip carved with a large letter 'H'
