A SCARCE .31 PERCUSSION ALL-METAL BOOT-PISTOL, serial no. 70,
produced between 1838-41, with turn-off two-stage brushed bright 3in. rifled iron barrel, carved bands at the muzzle and intersection, the top-flat at breech signed 'FAIRBANKS BOSTON' (traces only legible), the adjacent left hand flat 'CAST STEEL', plain moulded brass butt with semi birdshead grip pierced through with lanyard aperture, concealed iron trigger and exposed off-set top-hammer
