circa 1860, with heavy octagonal twist 30in. barrel, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, engraved breech-block with screwed vent, borderline and scroll engraved long top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved back-action lock with bolted hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, engraved iron patch-box to right hand side of butt, smooth iron heel-plate and pistol-grip spur to the lower tang, single set trigger, turned ramrod thimbles and heavy duty ebony ramrod with detachable brass tip, traces of finish and colour remaining
