circa 1855, with etched variegated rose and ribbon twist damascus 29 1/2in. barrels, the top-rib signed in gilt 'IACOB FUNK ** SOHNE IN SUHL' (losses to inlay), white metal bands and arabesques inlet at breech-end, dove-tailed for fore-sight (missing), elevating sliding rear-sight with aperture for range markings, scroll engraved breech-blocks, carved and engraved fences, relief scroll engraved top-tang featuring an inlet white-metal bear in a woodland setting, relief scroll engraved back-action locks, the left featuring inlet white metal stags and a gilt doe in a woodland setting and missing hammer, spindle and swinging safe, the left featuring white-metal inlet boar with a gilt dog and missing the majority of the hammer along with the swinging safe, walnut half-stock with complex bordered chequered panel at wrist (worn smooth, some age cracks), raised cheek-piece with relief carving of a charging lion in a woodland setting towards heel, relief scroll engraved patchbox with white-metal and gilt hunters defending themselves against a white metal lion, an undeciphered inked inscription on the right side of butt bearing the dates '1879' and '1890', white metal furniture including heel-plate, trigger guard, nose-cap and thimbles (one thimble absent), horn tang-cover, twin set triggers and provision for ramrod (absent)
