A RARE 16-BORE FLINTLOCK IRON-BARRELLED BLUNDERBUSS WITH SIDE-MOUNTED BAYONET, no visible serial number,
circa 1770, with triple-staged 13 3/4in. iron barrel banded at the intersections and with cannon muzzle, the top-flat at breech signed 'W. PARIS, DERBY', engraved band forwards of the hooked breech, shallow sighting groove to top-tang, the right hand side of barrel mounted with a sprung triangular cross-section bayonet with concave sides retained and released by a special notch carved into the breast of the cock, flat bevel edged borderline engraved lock with stepped tail and signed 'W. PARIS' below the pan, the frizzen utilising a 'Queen Anne' style recumbent spring to clear the bayonet when stored, walnut handrail three-quarter stock with shell-carved apron around the top-tang, iron furniture and incomplete replacement ramrod
