circa 1780, with an earlier re-blued round two-stage 45in. barrel with engraved band at the intersection (loss to detail), curved flat sighting rib to first third of the barrel, provision for bead fore-sight (absent), shallow standing notch rear-sight, traces of makers stamp at breech, borderline engraved step-tailed lock signed 'BOTHA' (at fault), walnut full-stock of typical Bobbejaanboud style with swan-neck chequered wrist, raised cheek-piece, brass furniture and provision for under-barrel ramrod (absent), the fore-end with losses and inlet repairs, drying cracks at heel
