A SCARCE WORLD WAR TWO CUTLASS FOR THE GERMAN FORESTRY SERVICE (REICHFORSTDIENST),
with 13in. spear-point blade, false edged for the last 4in., both sides of the blade etched with woodland hunting scenes, the ricasso stamped 'ORIGINAL EICKHORN, SOLINGEN' together with a squirrel trademark, gilded 'D'-shaped alloy hilt with shell-guard and border-lined knuckle-bow, deer-foot terminal to the quillion, staghorn scales each with three applied acorn motifs (gilding worn on acorns, minor scuffs to shell, blade with slight stains); together with its brass-mounted black leather sheath, the mounts correctly stapled, the throat with 'acorn' frog button.
