with 25 1/4in. sighted barrel signed in gilt letters 'STE. STEPHANOISE D'ARMES ST. ETIENNE', the side of barrel marked 'ST ETIENNE', scroll engraved breech-section with rotating loading tap, the top front stamped with a balloon motif erased, under-barrel reservoir with three milled bands serial numbered '33083', walnut straight hand butt with chequered wrist, horn butt-plate decorated in low relief with a balloon motif and 'PAUL GIFFARD INVENTEUR', much original blued finish with surface frosting
