* A RARE 11.77mm(RIMFIRE) NORWEGIAN MODEL 1860/67 LUND PATTERN BREECH-LOADING SERVICE RIFLE, serial no. 3724,
circa 1863, 36in. barrel with Whitworth style hexagonal rifling, bayonet stud at muzzle, block and blade front-sight and ladder rear-sight to 800 yards, the action top stamped with the year of manufacture '1863' and the serial no. 3724, the side of the action with the model designation 'MODEL 1860', upward pivoting block operated by a sidelever and fired by an under hammer, arctic birch stock with regulation brass mounts, all parts with matching numbers, complete with sling swivels, correct rod, with bayonet
Provenance: This rifle was originally an unissued Model 1860 Kammerlader (Percussion Chamber Loader) of which just 12,000 were made, almost all were converted to rimfire metallic cartridge in 1867. The conversion system having been developed by Rustmester Jacob Gabriel Lund. The history of this rifle is as follows:- The rifle was completed at the Kongsberg arms factory in 1863 and checked and approved by inspecting officer Magnus Engelschion, in test firing it was placed in the shoots 'Excellently category and marked by Engelschion with his stamp (E) three times at the rear of the action. On completion of testing the rifle was sent to Christiana and the main arsenal at Akershus Fortress where it was received on 11th October 1865. It remained in store unissued until 1867 when it was sent back to Kongsberg for conversion
