A SCARCE BOXED .22 WEBLEY & SCOTT 'MKII SERVICE' AIR-RIFLE, serial no. S8952,
circa 1936, with matching number 25 1/2in. barrel fitted with a ramp and blade fore-sight, push-button barrel release, amateur modified elevating dove-tailed rear-sight to the barrel cradle, rotating bolt-handled barrel-lock, peep-sight to rear, blued air-chamber with model details and patents, trigger unit with makers name and address, no provision for safety catch, walnut semi pistol-grip butt-stock, ribbed horn heel-plate, the whole retaining a strong amount of original blued finish and complete in its manufacturer's paste-board box with wood formers for the gun action and barrel stored separately, together with a copy of F.E. Morton's 'Hints on Air Rifle Shooting' (marked as applicable to rifles numbered S2001 and above), a 1939 copy of Webley & Scott's Weaman Street brochure, a spare replacement mainspring with 'Webley' seal and a period box of 'Beatall' pellets (fragile), the rifle box with losses and wear to edges
