Provenance: The vendor has kindly supplied us with the following information:
"The guns were owned by Mr John Oakley - my father's stepfather - and passed on to me when he died in the early '80s. Uncle John (as we knew him) was married to my grandmother Velma, who was the eldest daughter of William 'Bill' Stephenson who was picked by American store magnate Frank Woolworth to launch/build F.W. Woolworth & Co in the UK in the early 1900s; becoming the UK's first MD and then Chairman and making it more profitable than the American business! My Grandmother and Uncle John bought a farm near Beckley in East Sussex (Great Conster) after they married in the early 1950's - I am unsure if he purchased the guns then or owned them from new"
