A SCARCE .577 (SNIDER) OVAL-BORED BREECH-LOADING RIFLE, MODEL 'LANCASTER PATENT TWO-BAND SNIDER', no visible serial number,
circa 1863, with blued 29 1/4in. barrel, block and blade fore-sight, elevating ladder rear-sight, flip open breech with solid thumb-piece, the block marked 'SNIDER'S PATENT', borderline engraved bar-action lock signed 'LANCASTER'S PATENT', walnut three-quarter stock with brass furniture except two iron barrel-bands, bayonet lug to right hand side of muzzle and square-tipped jag-ended underbarrel clearing rod
