A GOOD .300 (ROOK) SINGLE-SHOT ROOK & RABBIT RIFLE, serial no. 4616,
circa 1895, with blued octagonal 26 1/2in. barrel, dove-tailed bead fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, the matted sighting plane marked with a triangle trademark at breech, the left hand top-flat marked 'WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO, LONDON' and 'FOR .300 CARTRIDGE', plain slab-sided colour hardened receiver, the left face marked with the same address, side-lever opening, central hammer, chequered walnut straight-hand butt-stock ribbed at heel, guarded trigger and chequered walnut snap-on splinter fore-end, much original finish remaining, weight approximately 4 3/4lbs., overall length 42 3/4in.
