serial number on barrel only, circa 1855, 42 1/2in. nitro reproved (in 1994) fine twist barrel (likely originally muzzle-loading) turned from round to polygonal to hexagonal, the top flat engraved 'George Gibbs Bristol' in gothic script, Jones patent rotary-underlever, carved percussion fence, non-rebounding sidelock with carved hammer, border engraving, retaining some original colour-hardening, 14 3/4in. stock including 1 1/4in. wooden extension, fore-end with crosspin release and horn finial, weight 13lbs. 6oz.
