A .660 PERCUSSION RIFLED SINGLE-BARRELLED CAVALRY-CARBINE, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number,
circa 1840 and possibly adapted from an earlier arm or a volunteer type, with 20in. twist-iron round barrel rifled with seven grooves of Baker style, applied fore-sight (rubbed flat), rear-sight of one standing and two folding leaves, solid borderline engraved top-tang with rounded tip, plain borderline engraved bar-action lock of military style, walnut full-stock chequered at the wrist, borderline engraved patchbox to right hand side of butt with 'broken arch' hinge, borderline engraved brass furniture including raised pistol-grip spur and diamond shaped cross-key escutcheons, provision for saddle-bar (removed, holes blanked with screws or period escutcheons, iron swivels and iron button-head ramrod, 35 3/4in. overall
