A SCARCE PATTERN 1897 TYPE DRESS SWORD FOR THE MALAWI ARMY, serial no. 109712,
with straight etched 32in. blade, both sides with the Malawi Army shield above the motto 'UNITY AND FREEDOM', Wilkinson maker's mark and etched proof mark at forte, pierced half-basket with the engraved Malawi coat of arms, wire bound sharkskin grip, chequered backstrap and domed pommel, complete with its pigskin leather field scabbard, the whole appearing little used, overall length in scabbard 40in., weight approximately 2lbs.
