A JAPANESE WORLD WAR TWO SHIN-GUNTO MOUNTED KATANA WITH SIGNED BLADE,
the 26in. blade almost certainly a smith-made arsenal example (some mild speckled staining), the 'hamon' barely visible but extending around the kissaki, silver washed 'habaki', cast carved and moulded 'tsuba', signature to both sides of tang, push-button scabbard lock, cotton bound ray-skin covered 'tsuka' and leather covered 'saya', 39 3/4in. overall, weight in scabbard approx. 3 7/8lbs.

Other Notes: This sword comes with a hand written note from the vendor's father that it was taken from an unnamed Japanese officer at Singapore by a Major Medhurst
