Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that this gun was completed in 1872 for a Dr. Ramskill.

Research would indicate this to be Dr Jabez Spence Ramskill (1825 - 1897), studied at Guy's Hospital, and admitted to the Royal College of Surgeons in 1846, aged 21.

In 1860 Dr Ramskill was the first physician appointed at the newly-opened 'National Hospital for the Relief and Cure of the Paralysed and Epileptic' in Queen Square, Bloomsbury
