AN EXCEPTIONAL PAIR OF TALLETT-ENGRAVED 12-BORE SINGLE-TRIGGER ULTRA-ROUND OVER AND UNDER SIDELOCK EJECTORS, serial no. 29994 / 5,
28in. nitro chopperlump barrels with 7mm solid finely matted top-ribs, gold-inlaid in script '1' and '2' towards the breech ends, side-ribs, the over barrels engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS. AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, rounded bar actions with short side-bolsters, the fences carved in high relief with grape and vine motifs, hold-open toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, non-selective single triggers, rolled-edge triggerguards, the actions, lockplates and furniture exquisitely engraved with shaded bold scrolling acanthus interspersed with roses and against a finely matted background, the lockplates gold-inlaid with the makers name in scrolling banners, the triggerplates signed 'WEZ TALLETT', the triggerguard tangs gold-inlaid with the serial numbers, the fore-end irons engraved en suite and gold-inlaid 'J. PURDEY & SONS', the finials gold-inlaid '1' and '2, 14 3/4in. highly-figured pistolgrip stocks with finely engraved steel pistolgrip-caps, gold oval escutcheons with shaded initials 'EPC' with deco flourishes top and bottom, weight 7lb. 7oz., in their very fine crocodile leather motor case by Vincent Rickards, blue felt lining with black leather detailing, gold-inlaid for the No.1 and No.2 guns, with central concealed compartment for the cleaning rod, the cleaning heads in a bespoke crocodile leather pouch, the front of the case with crocodile leather oval gold-embossed 'E.P.C.', with a canvas and crocodile leather outer cover with leather oval gold-embossed 'E.P.C.'
