A 25-BORE PERCUSSION SAW-HANDLED DUELLING-PISTOL, no visible serial number,
circa 1810 with later conversion to percussion, browned octagonal slightly swamped twist-iron barrel signed in script on the top-flat 'HOLMES, LIVERPOOL', bead fore-sight, twin platinum lines and acanthus leaf engraving at breech-end, standing notch rear-sight to the acanthus scroll engraved top-tang, re-coloured slightly curved bevel-edged step-tailed lock with further acanthus engraving and signed 'HOLMES', sliding safe behind the hammer, walnut half-stock with full saw-handled chequered grip swelling at the base and inlet with a broad silver band, gadrooned rosewood grip-cap (loose), white metal furniture including engraved trigger-guard bow and moulded ramrod throat and fore-end cap, brass tipped replacement mahogany ramrod
