for 1906, 30in. nitro barrels, No.1 replacements (Birmingham proofed in 1983, possibly by another), the ribs gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, No.1 with 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, the tubes engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98, NEW BOND STREET LONDON.', No.2 with 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, the tubes later or re-engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98, NEW BOND STREET LONDON.', right wall thickness at 18, toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, best bold Royal scroll engraving, bright and blued finish overall, 15 3/8in. replacement stocks (insert repairs to right underhorns), weight 6lb. 12oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 8oz. (No.2) in their brass-cornered oak and leather case with internal protecting flap

Provenance: The makers have kindly confirmed that the guns were completed in 1906 for a Mr J. Benyon who purchased these guns for his son Mr H. Benyon. A copy of the entry in the record books and a Holland & Holland certified Weapon History is supplied with the Lot
