with 3 1/2in. octagonal top break and hinged barrel, top rib stamped with the Smith & Wesson address and patent legends and dates to 1865, plain five shot cylinder, sheath trigger, grips removed, some minimal finish in protected areas

Provenance: This model of pistol was produced by Smith & Wesson 1859 to 1868 with a total production of 26,300, the addition of the 1865 patent date occured around the 15,500 serial range
