A 14-BORE FLINTLOCK SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN SIGNED JACKSON, WITH NOCK PATENT BREECH, CIRCA 1790, no visible serial number,
33in. round barrel with applied bead fore-sight, the breech end carved and engraved with a short sighting rib terminating in a needle and starburst, later knock-off breech inlet with a gold oval poincon signed 'H. NOCK, LONDON', gold-lined touch-hole, engraved top-tang with shallow sighting groove, bevel edged lock signed in script 'JACKSON' and with engraved and pointed tail, semi rainproof pan, roller frizzen, engraved swan-necked cock, walnut hand-rail half-stock chequered at the wrist and carved and moulded around the top-tang, shield shaped white metal escutcheon to back of wrist, iron furniture, pineapple finial to trigger plate, horn tip to fore-end and twin barrel-keys, two ramrod thimbles to under-rib and ebony ramrod (frozen)
