for 1929, 27in. nitro chopperlump barrels with file cut rib, the tubes engraved 'WILLIAM POWELL & SON. 35 CARR'S LANE. BIRMINGHAM.', 'SIR JH. WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', (likely refreshed), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, right wall thickness at 17-, treble-grip action, toplever gold-inlaid '1', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, non-selective single trigger, fine acanthus scroll engraving with floral bouquets, the fences carved in relief with leaf motifs on a finely stippled background, retaining traces of original colour-hardening and renewed finish, 14 3/4in. highly-figured replacement stock, weight 6lb. 11oz., in a leather case

Provenance: A copy of the makers records entry (supplied with the gun) lists the gun as being No.1 of a pair of 'Best single trigger (non selective) hammerless ejector guns, Whitworth steel barrels 27", 12 bore, flat file cut ribs, toplever T.B. side locks, engraved with leaves fences..' and made for C. Dugdale Esq.
