A PAIR OF LIGHTWEIGHT 12-BORE 'NO.3 ZEPHYR' SIDELOCK EJECTORS, serial no. 23968 / 9,
for 1898, 27in. replacement nitro barrels (Birmingham proof dated to 1953), unsigned ribs gold-inlaid '1' and '2' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, treble-grip actions with removable striker discs, carved stylised leaf fences, slender toplevers gold-inlaid '1' and '2', automatic safeties with inlaid 'SAFE' details, light damage to action bridge No.2, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 3/4in. figured stocks (No.2 a replacement), weight 6lb. 1oz., in a leather case

Provenance: We have been kindly supplied with a copy from the original makers records that confirm the guns were originally made with 28in. barrels and were invoiced on the 13th August 1898., the records state they were sold to 'E de Satge, Esq.'
