ENGLAND.', barrels no. 8601 rib engraved 'CHARLES LANCASTER 151 NEW BOND ST. LONDON. PATENT EJECTOR', and silver-inlaid '4' at the breech end, under ribs engraved 'BARRELS MADE OF SIR JOSEPH WHITWORTH'S FLUID PRESSED STEEL', (rubbed on barrels no. 8600), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/2 choke, some pits No. 8601, Lancaster patent assisted-opening actions with slender toplevers, automatic safeties with inlaid 'SAFE' plaques, bold border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed finish overall, No. 8600 ejectors require attention, 14 1/4in. replacement stocks, fore-ends with grip-catch release levers, woods with insert repairs and chequering worn smooth, weight 6lb. 12oz.
