converted from a muzzle-loading rifle circa 1880, with octagonal 26 1/2in. 'barrel', loading aperture 7 1/2in. from the muzzle with rifled insert, dove-tailed three-quarter tunnel fore-sight, drilled and tapped for rear-sight (blanked off, sight absent), plain top-tang (cracked) mounted with a pan-headed aperture sight, plain nickel-plated hump-back lock, the external plated hammer connected via a plated linkage to the striker in the barrel, walnut half-stock with chequered wrist and moulded exaggerated Tyrolean cheek-piece, Swiss style plated iron heel-plate, complex plated spurred trigger-guard bow, double-set triggers and smooth fore-end with moulded tip (fore-end screw stripped)
