AN EXCEPTIONAL CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION REVOLVER, MODEL 'ADAMS PATENT', serial no. 30616R,
circa 1857, with octagonal 5 3/4in. barrel, engraved band at muzzle, scroll engraved barrel throat, borderline engraved barrel-flats, dove-tailed fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, the borderline engraved top-strap signed 'THOMAS BOSS & CO, 73 ST. JAMES'S STREET, LONDON', borderline and scroll engraved solid frame marked 'B14952 ADAMS' PATENT No. 30616R', plain five-shot cylinder with engraved band to leading edge and borderline engraved nipple-wells, sliding cylinder-locking safety, double action mechanism with spurred hammer, semi saw-handled chequered walnut grip and guarded trigger, blued rammer mounted to left hand side numbered on the inner face '4260', the whole in remarkable condition retaining virtually all its original blued finish (some frosting to rammer), together with its original oak storage case, small Thomas Boss trade-label inside lid and compartmented and lined in pea-green baize containing an original bag-shaped flask, brass un-numbered bullet mould, loading rod, oil bottle, nipple-key, turn-screw and cap tin, all also in little used condition (some tarnish to flask and oil-bottle)
