early to mid Victorian, with heavy square-section 28 1/2in. blade signed 'MOLE, BIRM'M' near the hilt (some shallow pitting and staining), curving wood hilt with plain brass ferrule, corresponding plain brass ferrule at scabbard throat and iron tipped brass cap to tip of scabbard, approximately 39in. overall
