A RARE BOXED .22 BREAK-BARREL RECOILLESS AIR-RIFLE, MODEL 'STATICAL', serial no. B14303,
circa 1979, with blued 18in. barrel, ramp fore-sight with tunnel protector, micro adjustable rear-sight, blued air-chamber grooved for a telescopic sight, central oil-hole, the breech area mounted with a foil sticker marked in red letters 'ASI STATICAL .22 RECOILLESS SYSTEM', black crackle finished receiver, beech butt-stock with raised cheek-piece and plastic heel-plate, separate beech fore-end, appearing unused in its maker's card carton (some damage to lid corners, rifle untested)
Provenance: The ASI Statical air-rifle was a brave attempt to bring a recoilless spring-operated air-rifle to the UK hunting scene. Previously, only multi-pump pneumatics and target rifles had offered the recoilless feature, but the Statical was expensive to produce and also failed to come up to the power limit that the UK market required, resulting in poor sales
